Got an A for my persuasive speech (OpenDocument download) in Public Speaking class last night. The professor thought it was an unusual topic -- trying to persuade people to speak without using filler words like "basically" and "you know". Very meta.

Good for you, Mark! As you know, I am not ignorant to the proliferation of misused words, creative punctuation, and annoying "filled pauses." My latest is the misuse of the word "literally." There's only one meaning for the word, so if I say a piece of pie is "literally out of this world," then you know it's in outer space somewhere.
Similarly, I cringe everytime an ad comes on 610WIP touting them as "Philadelphia's most unique radio station." Grrr!!!
