Erin's bugged me to post about our impending new computer arrival. As she noted, we attended Andy Ihnatko's talk, and plunked down a build-to-order request on a new Mac mini for her and the kid. We went with the 1.66GHz Core Duo model, maxed out the hard drive to 120GB, and upped the RAM to 1GB total. Throw in AppleCare and .Mac, and well, it's not quite got such a mini-price but it'll keep 'em busy for a while. Long enough to get the kid through high school, I hope.
I'm still coveting a MacBook Pro to replace Fender, my beat-up TiBook, but will bide my time until the first version's had the inevitable bug shakeout. Plus the mini's gonna set us back a bit in our big-purchases fund.
